Two Suspected Kangleipak Communist Party Members Arrested in Manipur; Weapons Cache Seized
In a significant crackdown, security forces in Manipur’s Thoubal district arrested two suspected members of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) on August 19. The arrests took place in Leirongthel Pitra village, leading to the capture of 20-year-olds Chanam Pritam Singh, alias Thoungamba, and Sanabam Ibungo Meitei, alias Langamba.
During the operation, authorities seized two pistols with magazines, nine rounds of live ammunition, three mobile phones, Rs 6,000 in cash, and a two-wheeler. Later the same day, a subsequent search in S. Nabil Village, Churachandpur district, led to the recovery of 67 improvised mortar shells, 25 fuse primers, and nine other items.
This operation marks a significant blow to the Kangleipak Communist Party, reflecting ongoing efforts to curb insurgency and illegal arms activities in the region.
