Two Women Apprehended with Suspected YABA Tablets on Rajdhani Express in Guwahati

Guwahati, 1st May: During a routine inspection on Train No. 20503, the Rajdhani Express in Guwahati on May 1, authorities apprehended two female passengers in possession of a significant quantity of suspected YABA tablets. The individuals were identified as Sumitra Barman, 35 years old, and Mamoni Ray, 40 years old.

The inspection revealed the presence of 100 packets, each containing 50 tablets, totaling an estimated 20,000 suspected YABA tablets. Barman and Ray, traveling from Dimapur to Koch-Behar, West Bengal, were seated in Coach A2, Seats 31 and 32.

Both individuals hail from Dinhata Thapu village in the Dinhata police jurisdiction of Cooch Behar district, West Bengal. Sumitra Barman is married to Pradip Ray, while Mamoni Ray is married to Kamal Ray.

Following the seizure of the suspected drugs, authorities have initiated necessary legal proceedings against the individuals. The apprehension underscores the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking activities and maintain security on the railways.
