UDP Initiates Extensive Consultations Ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha Polls for Candidate Selection
Northeast Desk, 21st November: Meghalaya’s Election Committee of the United Democratic Party (UDP) on November 20 decided to conduct an extensive consultation before finalizing candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Allantry F Dkhar, the UDP vice president, stated, “The process is underway, and a thorough consultation will precede any decision to pinpoint potential candidates.”
The consultation will immediately involve district presidents and secretaries engaging with elected members and party workers.
“District presidents have a week to complete the exercise and report to the SEC,” mentioned Dkhar. He added, “Following the feedback, the SEC will make a final assessment, leading to further consultations under the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA).”
Dkhar refrained from revealing Shillong seat aspirants, stating, “Four individuals have expressed interest, but we won’t disclose their names to maintain confidentiality until we receive feedback.”
