UK’s Queen Elizabeth II Under Medical Supervision Amid Health Concerns
Guwahati: The Buckingham Palace on Thursday informed that Queen Elizabeth II is currently under medical observation after doctors expressed their concern over her healthy condition.
In an official statement, the Buckingham Palace said, “Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.”
“The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral,” the statement added.
All of the United Kingdom, according to newly elected Prime Minister Liz Truss, will be “extremely troubled by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime.”
The announcement follows the Queen’s decision to postpone the significant meeting on Wednesday after receiving medical advice to rest.
A day after Liz Truss was chosen to replace David Cameron as UK Prime Minister, Queen, 96, was expected to participate in a virtual meeting of her Privy Council.
Senior politicians who serve as the Queen’s formal advisors make up the Privy Council. Truss would have taken her oath and new cabinet ministers would have been sworn in during the gathering on Wednesday.
“Her Majesty has decided to take a nap this afternoon after working all day yesterday. As a result, the Privy Council meeting that was scheduled for this evening will be rescheduled “a Palace spokesman was quoted as saying.
The Queen is presently residing at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she on Tuesday hosted Truss and her predecessor Boris Johnson.
“The Queen received Liz Truss at Balmoral Castle today. Her Majesty asked her to form a new Administration. Ms. Truss accepted Her Majesty’s offer and was appointed Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury,” The Royal Family tweeted.
