ULFA-I: 2 Cadres Sentenced Death Penalty for alleged Involvement in Spying
Guwahati: Two members of United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent namely Dhanjit Das and Sanjib Sarma have been sentenced to death by the ULFA-I.
Dhanjit Das alias Roopak Asom of Barpeta district allegedly tried to flee the Salman camp on April 24, according to a statement released by the ULFA-I on Saturday. On April 25, he was apprehended by a ULFA travelling team. “After being apprehended, Dhanjit was interviewed by a ULFA squad, during which he admitted to provoking some of the other cadres to abandon the camp. He further admitted to giving the Assam Police inside information,” according to the ULFA statement.
On the other hand, the outlawed organisation in Myanmar detained Sanjib Sarma of Muktapur in Baihata Chariali, who was supposedly a hidden agent of the Assam Police.
Sanjib Sarma also joined the outlawed organisation as an Assam Police spy, confessing the entire incident in a video statement when it was revealed.
In a video issued by the ULFA-I, Sanjib and Dhanjit urged young people across the state not to join the illegal outfit out of a desire for money, since this would lead to the people’s destruction.
