ULFA-I declares 3 month Unilateral ceasefire
The banned outfit of Assam, United Liberation Front of Asom-Independant (ULFA-I) has declared a unilateral ceasefire for 3 months with immediate effect in a press release today.
Paresh Baruah the outfit’s Commander-In-Chief in the press release said that ongoing COVID-19 situation in Assam prompted ULFA-I to unilaterally suspend all the military operations for next 3 months starting today.
In the statement he also accused the Indian security forces and the Assam Police force of conspiring to malign the image of his outfit. This was in reference to the grenade blast on Friday at Tingrai bazar where two people were killed and two were injured. Later, ULFA-I denied their involvement in the blast.
Assam Chief Minister Mr. Himanta Bishwa Sarma visited the blast site on Saturday morning and took stock of the situation. An ex-gratia of 5 lakh rupees was announced to the family of the deceased persons.
