ULFA (I) Member Abandons Insurgent Path in Tinsukia

Tinsukia, Assam – A chapter in the region’s insurgency narrative concluded on February 25th as Arunjay Bora, known within the ranks of ULFA (Independent) as Ujjal Asom, surrendered to the Tinsukia police. This act of relinquishing arms took place at Ritukathalguri, effectively severing his ties with the proscribed militant group.

Hailing from the remote Tekeri village in Pengeri, Tinsukia, Bora’s decision to lay down his weapons signifies a move away from years of armed struggle. Investigative reports suggest that he had been a part of ULFA (I) since 2018, marking a considerable period of involvement with the organization.

The surrender of Arunjay Bora underscores the persistent endeavors of the security apparatus to dismantle the remnants of insurgency within Assam. Moreover, it highlights the ongoing initiative to facilitate the return of former militants into the fold of mainstream society, offering them a path towards rehabilitation and a peaceful future.
