ULFA Recruitment Case: NIA Conducts Multiple Searches at 16 Locations Across Assam

Guwahati: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday searched a number of places in connection with the United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent’s (ULFA-I)  terrorist activities, including the organization’s recruiting of young people.

Assam’s seven districts reportedly saw searches by the NIA at roughly 16 different places.

The searches were carried out in relation to a case involving the activities of ULFA-I, including the recruitment of youth, the extortion of funds for the organization’s reinforcement, the radicalization of youth for illegal activities, and their training at camps based in Myanmar across the border from India and Myanmar.

Digital gadgets, live ammunition, and incriminating paperwork and literature relating to the ULFA were recovered by the investigation agency in the districts of Kamrup, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sadiya, Charaideo, and Sibasagar.

The NIA suo moto registered the complaint on May 18.

Further investigation is on.
