UMPC Observes Human Rights Day Amidst Manipur Crisis
Lilong Bazar, Manipur: The United Meitei-Pangal Committee (UMPC) on Monday marked the United Nations’ International Human Rights Day 2024 at Jama Masjid.
The event, themed “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now,” brought together community leaders, activists, and citizens to advocate for human rights in the conflict-ridden state.
Addressing the gathering, Alhaj Moulana Muheiyuddin, President of UMPC Manipur, emphasized the significance of International Human Rights Day. He stressed the need for peace, justice, and the restoration of dignity for all communities in Manipur. Muheiyuddin highlighted the collective responsibility to uphold universal rights, especially during times of crisis.
Advocate Zakir Hussain, Legal Advisor to UMPC Manipur, shed light on the current human rights situation in the state. He underscored the importance of protecting human rights amidst ongoing challenges and urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure the safety and dignity of every individual.
Alhaj Qa’ari Qayamuddin, Pesh Imam of Jama Masjid, called for unity, dialogue, and mutual respect among all communities to foster peace and understanding in Manipur.
Moulana Sheikh Habibullah Nadwi, Finance Secretary of UMPC Manipur, expressed gratitude to all attendees and reiterated the organization’s commitment to advocating for human rights, peace, and justice in the region.
The event served as a poignant reminder of the collective responsibility to uphold human dignity and ensure the protection of basic freedoms, especially in the face of ongoing conflicts.
