Union Home Minister Amit Shah to visit poll-bound Assam on April 6

Guwahati, 27th March: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam on April 6, following the cancellation of his earlier scheduled visit on March 14. Sources indicate that Shah’s visit will primarily focus on participating in election campaigns across the state.

During his visit, the Home Minister is slated to address mass gatherings in Lakhimpur and Hojai, engaging in election campaign activities ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Previously, Shah’s two-day visit on March 14 and 15 was abruptly cancelled, with no official explanation provided for the decision. His itinerary for the cancelled visit included party meetings and public gatherings as part of the BJP’s election campaign strategy.

As part of his campaign efforts for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shah was originally scheduled to conduct rallies in Margherita in Tinsukia and Nazira in Sivasagar. Additionally, he was set to address a townhall program in Guwahati on March 15, as announced by state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita.

Moreover, Shah was also expected to inaugurate the Bardowa Project in Assam’s Nagaon district, situated at the birthplace of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva, on March 15. Assam Water Resource Minister Pijush Hazarika had previously highlighted the significance of the project, valued at Rs 188 crore, which aims to develop Batadrava Than as a center for art, culture, and spiritualism. The beautification project covers an extensive area of 165 bighas and is a key initiative undertaken by the state government.
