Union Minister Anurag Thakur reviews Y20 inception meeting preparation In Guwahati

Guwahati: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur arrived in Guwahati on January 5 for a day-long visit to assess the planning for the Y20 inception meeting.

The Union Minister paid a visit to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, where he met with administrators to discuss the institute’s readiness to host the Y20 inaugural meeting.

The Union Minister also paid a visit to Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra, the location of the Y20, where he discussed preparations with top State Government officials.

The Y20, the youth equivalent of the G20 Summits, was established in 2012 and is one of the most significant international diplomatic platforms for young leaders. It is the only venue that is officially acknowledged for young people to connect with the G20. It belongs to one of the G20’s eight formal interaction groups.

The G20 rotating president is in charge of hosting the youth summit, which typically occurs a few weeks before the regular forum. This allows the rotating presidency to learn what the young people are thinking and incorporate their views into their own policy proposals. It is an effort to establish a bridge between the local youth and the G20 governments.
