National: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju marked a significant spiritual moment in his life by taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
Sharing his experience through a video on social media, Rijiju expressed gratitude for the opportunity and lauded the arrangements made for the grand event.
Speaking to ANI, Rijiju remarked, “Maha Kumbh is deeply connected to the faith of crores of people. Taking a dip in these holy waters is a profound moment in my life. The arrangements here are excellent, and I commend Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his team, and the administration for their efforts.”
The ongoing Maha Kumbh has seen an extraordinary turnout, with over six million pilgrims taking the sacred dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers by midday on Monday, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also participated in the event on Monday, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, spiritual leader Baba Ramdev, and prominent sages. Shah and Adityanath met with seers before performing the sacred ritual at the Triveni Sangam.
Several other dignitaries, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other Union Ministers, have also attended the Maha Kumbh. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet recently convened a meeting in Prayagraj, after which its members joined the devotees in taking a holy dip.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, runs from January 13 to February 26 this year. Rooted in Sanatan Dharma, the event aligns with a celestial configuration believed to create an auspicious period for spiritual cleansing and devotion. With an estimated 45 crore visitors expected, this Maha Kumbh is poised to be one of the largest gatherings in history, celebrating India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
