Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to Present PM Modi’s Chadar at Ajmer Sharif Dargah for 813th Urs

National: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju will offer a ceremonial chadar at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah on Saturday on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, commemorating the 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

The gesture underscores the Prime Minister’s annual tradition of sending a chadar to the revered shrine since taking office, marking this as his 11th consecutive year of participation.

Ahead of the visit, Rijiju stopped at the Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah in Delhi on Friday to offer prayers. Explaining his visit, Rijiju remarked, “Before departing for Ajmer Sharif to deliver the chadar entrusted by PM Modi, I felt it was important to first pay my respects at Nizamuddin Dargah. I prayed for everyone’s future.”

The chadar, handed over to Rijiju by PM Modi on Thursday, symbolizes the message of brotherhood and peace. The ceremonial offering at Ajmer Sharif is scheduled for 11 am on Saturday and will be accompanied by BJP Minority Morcha National President Jamal Siddiqui.

Last year, Union Minister Smriti Irani, along with Siddiqui and a delegation, presented the offering on behalf of PM Modi during the 812th Urs. The Ajmer Sharif Dargah, a significant spiritual site for people across faiths, observes the Urs to honor the teachings and legacy of the 13th-century Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

This annual tradition highlights the government’s commitment to fostering interfaith harmony and celebrating India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
