Union Minister Lalan Singh Offers Prayers at Kamakhya Temple Ahead of Northeast Ministers’ Conference
Assam: Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, visited the revered Maa Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on January 6, ahead of the Northeast Ministers’ Conference.
The Union minister, after offering prayers, described the Northeast as the “heart of the nation” and highlighted the significant progress the region has made since 2014.
Speaking to reporters, Singh emphasized that his prayers at the temple were for the development and prosperity of the Northeastern states and their people. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to the growth of the region, stating, “PM Modi’s resolution for the Northeast’s progress is steadfast, and keeping his vision in mind, I prayed for peace and prosperity for this vibrant region.”
The minister praised the advancements in the region, citing visible improvements across various sectors since 2014. Singh noted that his ministry, which oversees fisheries and animal husbandry, has recorded a 4% growth in the Northeast, showcasing the potential for further development.
Singh also outlined the agenda of the Northeast Ministers’ Conference, which aims to identify strategies for enhancing production in key sectors, including fisheries and animal husbandry. He expressed optimism that the discussions would further contribute to the region’s economic growth and prosperity.
The visit and conference underscore the Union government’s continued focus on integrating the Northeast into the national growth narrative, aligning with PM Modi’s vision of a developed and self-reliant region.
