Union Minister Pabitra Margherita Distributes Appointment Letters to Youth at Shillong’s Rozgar Mela 2024
Shillong, Meghalaya — Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textile, Pabitra Margherita, presented 207 appointment letters to successful candidates from Meghalaya at the Rozgar Mela 2024 on October 29. This initiative is part of a massive national recruitment drive, providing over 51,000 jobs across India in a move designed to boost employment and career development opportunities.
The Shillong ceremony drew young recruits from Meghalaya and neighboring northeastern states, with appointments including 191 positions in the Department of Post, 15 in Railways, and one in NIT Meghalaya. Margherita emphasized the event’s significance, telling the assembled candidates from Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam, “This is a celebration of hope, new beginnings, and limitless possibilities.”
Reflecting on the scale of the Rozgar Mela, which was held in 40 locations nationwide, Margherita expressed pride at seeing so many young people eager to embark on new government roles. “It fills me with joy to witness candidates expressing appreciation for the government’s efforts,” he said.
In a nationwide address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the event via videoconference, marking the occasion alongside Dhanteras celebrations. Modi underscored the unique significance of this year’s Diwali, referencing the recent installation of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and acknowledging generations of people who had waited and sacrificed for this moment.
The Prime Minister also highlighted how infrastructure projects—ranging from expressways to airports—are creating job opportunities nationwide. “These initiatives not only build infrastructure but also expand employment avenues for the youth,” he remarked.
The Rozgar Mela aligns with the government’s commitment to youth employment and skill development, channeling new recruits into critical roles across ministries. Margherita encouraged the recruits, calling them “ambassadors of our government’s vision for India” and urging them to build the nation through integrity and dedication.
