Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Lays Foundation Stone for New Patient Care Facility at AMCH in Dibrugarh

Guwahai: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone for a new 37-bed patient care cabin facility at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh. This development marks a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare infrastructure in Northeast India.

The new facility, set to be developed within a four-storied building, will be built at an investment of Rs 8.89 crore. The project is being supported by Oil India Ltd (OIL) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The addition of the patient care cabins aims to meet the increasing demand for high-quality, affordable medical treatment in the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, highlighted the pivotal role of AMCH in the region’s healthcare landscape. He noted, “AMCH Dibrugarh, Northeast India’s pioneering medical college, has long been the backbone of healthcare in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and beyond.” He also emphasized that this new facility is a promise to redefine specialized care for the region as demand for such services continues to grow.

Sonowal also addressed the students of AMCH, urging them to recognize the importance of their future roles in healthcare. “As the future caregivers of humanity, you hold the power to heal and transform lives. We wish you the best health and a sound mind, for with these strengths, your contribution to nation-building and improving lives will be even more meaningful,” he added.
