Union Minister Sonowal Applauds Northeast’s Progress under Modi’s Leadership

Guwahati, 14th April: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal rallied supporters in Dibrugarh, highlighting the remarkable advancements witnessed in the northeast region under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stewardship. Speaking at an election campaign for the upcoming LS polls, Sonowal underscored the region’s strides in development and peace, attributing them to the proactive policies of the Modi government.

Reflecting on the past, Sonowal contrasted the region’s stagnation during the Congress regime with its current trajectory of growth. He criticized the previous government’s neglectful policies, characterizing them as discriminatory and hindering the region’s potential. However, he commended the Modi administration for empowering the northeast with opportunities and support, leading to its resurgence in recent years.

Sonowal highlighted significant achievements, including the gradual withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and the resolution of interstate disputes, which have contributed to the region’s newfound stability and progress.

Addressing the issue of legal and societal reforms, Sonowal expressed support for the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Assam, citing Uttarakhand’s proactive measures in this regard. He emphasized the importance of uniformity and harmony in the legal framework, signaling a progressive stance towards societal cohesion.

Additionally, Sonowal endorsed the concept of One Nation, One Election, labeling it a “very good idea” with widespread citizen support. He attributed the potential realization of this concept to Prime Minister Modi’s decisive leadership, emphasizing his ability to make significant decisions for the nation’s benefit.

Sonowal’s remarks resonated with the crowd, reflecting the growing optimism and enthusiasm for the BJP’s vision of inclusive development and transformative governance.
