UP: Fatal Road Mishap Claims Eight Lives in Bulandshahr
BULANDSHAHR: A devastating road accident in Bulandshahr district early this morning left eight people, including two young children, dead and 43 others injured after a truck ploughed into a tractor-trolley carrying pilgrims. The tragic incident occurred around 2:10 am on National Highway 34 near the Arnia bypass, on the Bulandshahr-Aligarh border, casting a pall of gloom over the region.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Dinesh Kumar Singh stated that the tractor-trolley was ferrying 61 pilgrims from Rafatpur village in Kasganj district to the revered shrine of Jaharpeer in Rajasthan. A speeding truck, bearing a Haryana registration, collided with the vehicle from behind, causing it to overturn and trapping its passengers.
“Eight people have succumbed to their injuries, while 43 others are receiving medical attention. Three of the injured are on ventilator support, and ten passengers had minor injuries and are out of danger,” SSP Singh said, detailing the scale of the tragedy.
The injured were swiftly transported to multiple medical facilities to ensure they received urgent care. Ten were admitted to Aligarh Medical College, ten to Bulandshahr District Hospital, and 23 to Kailash Hospital in Khurja. District Magistrate Shruti, accompanied by senior police officials, braved the adverse weather conditions to reach the crash site and later visited the hospitals to oversee the medical care being provided to the victims.
The deceased have been identified as E. U. Babu (40), the tractor driver, Rambeti (65), Chandni (12), Ghaniram (40), Mokshi (40), Shivansh (6), Yogesh (50), and Vinod (45). All were residents of Kasganj district. Police officials also confirmed that twelve children were among the injured survivors.
The bodies of the victims have been sent for post-mortem examinations as legal proceedings are initiated. The truck involved in the collision has been impounded by the police, with further investigations underway.
