UP: Kannauj Police Sub-Inspector Suspended for Demanding Bribe in Potatoes
National Desk, 11th August: A sub-inspector in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, has been suspended following an incident where he demanded five kilograms of potatoes as a bribe. The case came to light after an audio clip of Sub-Inspector Ram Kripal’s conversation with a farmer was circulated on social media.
In the recording, Kripal is heard negotiating down to three kilograms of potatoes after the farmer expressed financial constraints. Kannauj Superintendent of Police Amit Anand has suspended Kripal and initiated an investigation into the matter.
This incident follows a recent case in Assam where Lat Mandal Rahiram Mondal and driver Dhruv Nath were arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
