Guwahati: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat announced on Monday that actress Rimi Sen had joined the Congress party ahead of the Uttarakhand Assembly elections.
She became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2017.
Sen has come to Uttarakhand to hasten change, Rawat said as he welcomed her to Congress.
“A well-known film actress and former star campaigner of BJP is joining Congress today to give impetus to change, to accelerate change,” Rawat, who is the party’s campaign head in the state, wrote on Twitter.

Sen has worked in a number of films, including, Baghban, Dhoom, Garam Masala, Kyon Ki, Phir Hera Pheri and Golmaal: Fun Unlimited.
Uttarakhand goes to polls in a single phase on February 14 to elect its 70-member Assembly. On March 10th, the results will be announced.
It may be mentioned that on February 7, Dev D fame Mahie Gill and Punjabi movie actor Hobby Dhaliwal joined the BJP in Punjab
