Veteran Actor Junior Mehmood Passes Away
Entertainment Desk, 8th December: Renowned veteran actor Junior Mehmood, whose real name was Naeem Sayyed succumbed to stage 4 cancer at the age of 67 in Mumbai. His residence in Mumbai was the setting for his final moments. With a career spanning over five decades, Junior Mehmood made a significant impact on the Indian film industry, leaving an enduring legacy.
Having played memorable roles in more than 250 films, Junior Mehmood’s contributions were remarkable, featuring in iconic movies such as ‘Kati Patang,’ ‘Mera Naam Joker,’ ‘Parvarish,’ and ‘Do Aur Do Paanch.’ His cinematic journey commenced as a child actor in the 1967 film ‘Naunihal,’ alongside stalwarts like Sanjeev Kumar and Balraj Sahni. Adopting the stage name Junior Mehmood, he continued to make meaningful contributions to the film industry.
Beyond his acting prowess, Junior Mehmood ventured into film production, particularly in the Marathi cinema space. His dedication and versatility earned him respect and admiration from both peers and fans alike.
In the last weeks of his life, Junior Mehmood had meaningful interactions with fellow artists, including a heartfelt meeting with comedian and actor Johnny Lever. This encounter fueled his expressed desire to meet actors Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar, both of whom graciously fulfilled his wish. Junior Mehmood had collaborated with them on multiple films, creating lasting memories in projects like ‘Bachpan,’ ‘Geet Gaata Chal,’ and ‘Brahmachari.’
