Veteran Freedom Fighter Anuram Baruah in Dire Need of Medical Attention at 105

Guwahati, 26th June: Anuram Baruah, a celebrated freedom fighter from Assam’s Gohpur, renowned for his significant role in India’s independence struggle, is gravely ill at the age of 105.

Baruah has been bedridden for nearly a month due to inadequate medical care. Despite his frail condition, he continues to reside in Gohpur, remaining involved in various social activities.

His son has voiced deep concerns about Baruah’s worsening health and the family’s repeated but unsuccessful efforts to seek help from local authorities, including the Gohpur administration and their MLA. Promises of support have yet to materialize into any form of visitation or assistance.

“My father, Shri Anuram Barua, has dedicated his life to social causes and is a pensioner under the Freedom Fighter scheme. Despite informing the administration about his condition, their promised visit is still pending,” his son explained, urging immediate intervention from the authorities.

Even in his advanced years, Baruah continues to actively participate in community events in Gohpur. The family has now appealed to the Assam Chief Minister for urgent medical attention and better care for this respected freedom fighter.
