Vibrant Democracy Unfolds in Sikkim as Voters Flock to Polling Stations
Northeast Desk, 19th April: Sikkim witnessed a lively electoral atmosphere on April 19, with voters eagerly lining up before polling stations opened. The focus was on the contest for the lone Lok Sabha seat and 32 Assembly seats, with multiple parties and independent candidates competing for victory.
A total of 462,456 eligible voters, including 232,117 males and 230,334 females, participated in the electoral process across 573 polling stations, spanning both urban and rural areas. Arithang School in East Sikkim emerged as a symbol of civic engagement, witnessing a steady influx of voters throughout the day.
