Victor Das Placed Under Suspension
Guwahati: Victor Das, an assistant teacher at Panitema Radha Krishna Jugal Milan L.P. School who was arrested by the Assam Police and then granted bail for spreading rumours of a fraud in the Assam direct recruitment exam has been suspended by the Assam government.
The Office of the District Elementary Education, Kamrup, in a notification stated that Victor Das has been placed under suspension considering the report of Head teacher of Panitema Radha Krishna Jugal Milan L.P. School with immediate effect.
The Assam police arrested Victor Das on September on suspicion of inciting rumours about a “scam” in the hiring procedure for more than 26,000 open positions in several departments.
Das has been granted an interim bail by the Gauhati High Court in Assam until September 29.
Das, who also owns a coaching centre in Guwahati, asserted that some applicants were asking for between Rs 3 and Rs 8 lakh for the positions.
Additionally, he claimed that certain former MLAs were also complicit in the “scam.”
When the Assam police detained Victor Das, he was charged with violating sections 120B, 153, 153A, 384, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
He is charged with “spreading rumours and participating in a plot to sow division amongst different segments of society over appointment to government offices.”
