Violence in Manipur: Peace Should Prevail in Manipur, Says Conrad Sangma
National Desk, 23 May: Chief minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma said his party would reach out to more people from different groups in order to promote peace in the state amid recent unrest in Manipur.
Meghalaya chief minister said, “Today our party took a resolution and we have resolved that peace should prevail in Manipur. We will reach out to more and more people across different communities and regions so that we can bring peace back to Manipur.”
Notably, Imphal experienced new outbreaks of violence on Sunday night when criminals set fire to abandoned homes in New Lambulane. According to reports, three people were injured when miscreants opened fire on them.
Chief minister of Manipur N Biren announced that those responsible for the incidents had been brought to justice and that the state’s administration had been making every effort to reestablish harmony and tranquilly.
Chief Minister further disclosed that security forces carried out a search throughout the entire night following the event. He added that two licensed firearms and three people had been arrested.
