Voter Turnout Reaches 33.22% in Outer Manipur Lok Sabha Constituency by 11 AM
Northeast Desk, 26th April: During the ongoing polling in the remaining areas of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency, officials reported a voter turnout of 33.22% by 11 AM on Friday.
Polling was being conducted at 857 polling stations across 13 assembly segments spanning eight districts. The turnout varied across different assembly segments, with Tengnoupal recording the highest at 45.28% and Jiribam the lowest at 23.24% during the first two hours of voting.
Fifteen assembly segments of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency had already gone to the polls in the first phase on April 19, along with the entire Inner Manipur seat.
Four candidates are contesting in Outer Manipur, including NPF’s K Timothy Zimik, Congress’s Alfred Kanngam Arthur, and Independents S Kho John and Alyson Abonmai. The BJP has opted not to field any candidate and is supporting its ally, the NPF.
Over 4.84 lakh eligible voters are expected to participate in this phase of the elections.
Enhanced security measures have been implemented across all 13 assembly segments, with 87 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and 4,000 state police personnel deployed to ensure the conduct of free and fair elections.
