Voting Begins today For KAAC Elections In Assam
Guwahati: Voting for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) elections in Assam began at 7.30 am on Wednesday.
Voters will go to the polls today in 906 polling places to vote in a total of 26 municipal seats.
A total of 7,40,060 voters will decide the fate of the 154 candidates that ran for office.
Meanwhile, by-elections for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) are being held today.
It may be noted that voting will continue today until 4.30 p.m.
Campaigning for the KAAC elections came to a close on June 6 with numerous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) figures seen advocating for the candidates running in the elections.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika were also spotted campaigning for the impending elections.
CM Sarma attended four electoral rallies in Karbi Anglong on June 5. He also expressed his belief that the BJP will easily win the elections.
