VPP Criticizes Meghalaya Government Over Corruption and Infrastructure Failures
Northeast Desk, 24th June: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) expressed strong criticism of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government on June 23, citing deteriorating governance and widespread corruption. The VPP highlighted frequent infrastructure failures and the poor condition of roads across the state as evidence of the administration’s shortcomings.
VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh, in a press briefing, condemned the MDA for substandard construction work, suggesting that these failings reinforce public perceptions of corruption within the government. “The subpar quality of construction projects makes people view the government as corrupt,” Myrboh stated.
Myrboh also accused high-ranking officials of attempting to defend themselves by challenging the opposition, making it challenging to expose corruption. He emphasized that it is the citizens who suffer from corrupt activities and therefore have the power to hold the responsible parties accountable.
He warned that the MDA government could face a decline if it continues with what he described as “anti-people policies and actions.” Myrboh underscored that corruption poses a significant challenge that requires immediate and effective action to be addressed.
