National Desk, 26th September: Renowned actress Waheeda Rehman is set to be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Indian Cinema.
Over the course of her more than five-decade-long career, Waheeda Rehman has won praise from critics for her outstanding performances in a variety of Hindi movies, including classics like “Pyaasa,” “Kaagaz ke Phool,” “Chaudhavi Ka Chand,” “Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam,” “Guide,” “Khamoshi,” and many others.
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, made this announcement through his official social media handle.
In addition to this upcoming honor, Waheeda Rehman has been a recipient of the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards, further highlighting her dedication, commitment, and remarkable achievements in the Indian film industry.
This recognition coincides with the passage of the historic Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women Empowerment and Recognition Act) by the Indian Parliament, underlining the significant contributions of women to various fields, including the arts and entertainment industry.
