Guwahati: The employees of the Nagaon and Cachar Paper Mills who were served with eviction notices and were asked to evict their quarters within 15 days stated that the government will have to walk through their dead bodies if it (government) wants to vacate the quarters by force.
A notification issued by the liquidator of Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd, Kuldeep Verma read, “Since your employment with the Corporate debtor came to end with effect from 02.05.2019 or earlier due to superannuation/resignation/death or termination from the services of the Corporate debtor, your occupation of the accommodation/quarters occupied by you is unauthorised and you are required to vacate the same.”
Following this, the employees said that they are left with no options but to commit suicide. The employees protesting against the notification said that the government will have to walk through their dead bodies if they tried to forcefully vacate the quarters.
