“Wanted Rhino Poacher” arrested in Nagaon
Guwahati: A person wanted for his alleged involvement in several poaching and rhino horn along with illegal cattle trade cases was arrested by a team of Nagaon Police on Saturday night.
The accused, identified as Hilaluddin alias Jamal Uddin was a resident of Shivasthan, Samaguri. Police officials said that the accused was one of the kingpins in poaching and illegal cattle trade. He was on the wanted list of Nagaon police for a long time.
It may be mentioned that earlier on Thursday three persons with a suspicious rhinoceros horn were arrested by a team of the Nagaon Police along with a team of Morigaon Police.
Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra speaking about the operation said that based on specific inputs about a possible deal of Rhino horn, one operation was launched by the Nagaon Police along with the Morigaon Police in the Panibogora area of Morigaon.
During the operation, the police team succeeded in apprehending three persons with a Rhino horn weighing almost 1 kilogram that they were trying to sell.
The police team has stated the arrested persons are suspected to be dealers and further investigation about the horn is underway. The arrested persons have been identified as Khairul Islam Khairul Islam (55), Bhajan Biswas (65), Ashik Ali (24). All of the arrested persons were residents of Morigaon.
They have been prosecuted under sections 447/429/379/34 IPC R/W and section 51 WL(P) Act & R/W section 25(1-A)/27 arms act.
