WATCH| Assam: Congress Workers Protest in Dhubri Over Attack on MP Rakibul Hussain

Guwahati: Congress workers in Dhubri staged a strong protest at the District Congress Office on February 20, condemning the recent attack on party MP Rakibul Hussain in Rupahihat, Nagaon district.

The demonstration reflected growing outrage within the party following the assault, which took place while Hussain was en route to a Congress meeting in Gunabari.

The incident, marked by masked attackers waving black flags and launching a physical assault on the MP and his security personnel, has escalated political tensions in Assam.

Addressing party workers, Dhubri District Congress President Abedur Zaman denounced the attack as a direct strike on democratic values. He called for unity among party members and demanded a swift and thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The attack has intensified political friction in the state, with Congress leaders alleging that the incident was a deliberate act of intimidation against opposition voices. As authorities continue their probe, the party has ramped up calls for justice and greater security measures to protect political leaders from such threats.
