Weather Updates: Heavy Rains Likely in Assam in Next 3 Days

Guwahati: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Guwahati has predicted heavy rainfall in Assam in the next two days.

The weather report states that an east-west trough which currently stretches up to 0.9 km above mean sea level and crosses northeast Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, travels from northwest Rajasthan to west central Bay of Bengal near the coast of south Odisha.

East Uttar Pradesh to North East Assam is separated by a second secondary trough at mean sea level pressure. It is highly possible that widespread rainfall will persist along with thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations in Assam for the next 72 hours.

Meanwhile, other north-eastern states including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura have also been forecast to get light to moderate rainfall. Additionally, Meghalaya is expected to receive significant rains till July 2.
