West Siang District Aims High in Arunachal State Games 2025
Itanagar: A 168-member contingent from West Siang district, comprising 48 female athletes, is set to participate in the 4th edition of the Arunachal State Games. The event, scheduled to take place from April 18 to 22, will feature competitions in 22 sporting disciplines across multiple venues in the Itanagar Capital Region.
The Arunachal State Games 2025 will showcase a wide range of sports, including archery, athletics, arm-wrestling, badminton, basketball, boxing, chess, curling, football, hockey, judo, karate, kho-kho, pencak silat, skating, table tennis, taekwondo, tug of war, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, and wushu. Events will be hosted at various venues, including the Golden Jubilee Stadium, Yupia, Rajiv Gandhi University, and other locations in the Itanagar Capital Region.
Nyatum Bagra, President of the West Siang Olympic Association, expressed pride in the district’s athletes, highlighting their achievement of securing the second runner-up position in the Sansad Khel Spardha 2023 despite limited infrastructure and a shortage of professional coaches. With strengthened determination, the district now aims to claim the top spot in this year’s State Games.
To ensure the success of the event, a high-level preparatory meeting was recently chaired by Deputy Commissioner Jiken Bomjen, along with Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar and Sports Director Tadar Appa. The meeting focused on ensuring smooth coordination and operations throughout the five-day event, which is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from across the state.
