Woman Arrested with Brown Sugar in Longding as Arunachal Police Step Up Crackdown Under Operation Dawn 2.0
LONGDING, Arunachal Pradesh – In a decisive move against the region’s rising drug menace, Longding district police have intensified their anti-narcotics drive under Operation Dawn 2.0, arresting a woman with a substantial quantity of suspected brown sugar in Longding town.
On June 3, acting on a tip-off, police zeroed in on the UD Complex area where a woman from Tissa was reportedly attempting to deliver contraband. A swift response team led by Sub-Inspector C. Jingdam, along with Executive Magistrate Bini Shiva and DySP (HQ) Mape Zirdo, was dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, the team intercepted a woman displaying nervous behaviour. She identified herself as Jalih Wangsa, a resident of Longkai Village. A subsequent search led to the recovery of two soap cases containing approximately 23.3 grams of suspected brown sugar. The contraband was seized immediately in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, adhering strictly to the procedures laid out under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
A case has been registered at Longding Police Station under LDG/PS/Case No. 32/2025 U/S 21(b) NDPS Act, and the accused has been taken into custody.
The operation, carried out under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Longding District, signals a firm continuation of the police department’s unwavering resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks and protect communities from the escalating threat of narcotics in the region.
