Guwahati: In a horrifying incident, a woman was allegedly attacked in the Garigaon area of Guwahati on Thursday and suffered serious injuries.
According to reports, an enraged youth attacked the woman with a sharp weapon, severely wounding her.
The assailant has been identified as Suraj Ali, a resident of the area. Authorities claimed that he used a machete to attack the woman.
The injured woman was immediately taken in a serious condition to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Doctors informed that the woman had received injuries to her neck, ears and face.
According to reports, the victim sought to stop the attacker because he was intoxicated and making a commotion.
Locals said that after becoming enraged by that, Ali repeatedly attacked the woman and tried to kill her.
The attacker has been brought into prison by the police, who have accused him of trying to murder the victim.
