Guwahati: A woman died due to a landslide triggered by heavy rains in Lakhimpur district along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Sunday.
The woman identified as Chokushri Basumatary.
The incident took place in the Indupur village of Kerekujuli in Narayanpur in the wee hours.
According to reports, Basumatary died when a landslide was caused due to heavy rain on a nearby hill.
Reportedly, she was covered with the mud while she was sleeping inside the hut.
It needs to be mentioned that her body is not recovered till the time of filing this report as the rescue operation is underway.
