Guwahati: In an unfortunate incident, a body of a woman was recovered dead in a paddy field under mysterious circumstances in Karimganj district of Assam on Sunday.
The incident was reported at Patharkandi of the district.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Panchami who was a resident of Kasuwari village in Patharkandi.
According to reports, Panchami went missing on Saturday night.
According to preliminary investiagtions, the woman may have been the victim of sexual assault before being killed.
Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
The incident has caused a lot of stir in the area.
