Women’s Police Battalion Announced in Manipur on 132nd Police Raising Day
Northeast Desk, 19th October: Manipur is set to establish a women’s police battalion, a significant step towards promoting gender diversity and strengthening the state’s law enforcement capabilities. The announcement came on the occasion of Manipur’s 132nd Police Raising Day, celebrated with great enthusiasm. Chief Minister N Biren Singh congratulated the 42,000 courageous Manipur Police personnel and their families.
In recognition of their dedication in maintaining law and order, the Chief Minister disclosed an increment of Rs 500 in the ration money allocated to these personnel. He commended the pivotal role played by the police in bringing peace and order to the state, especially during challenging times when over 8 police officers made the ultimate sacrifice.
The new women’s police battalion is expected to not only enhance the representation of women in the police force but also tap into the sporting talent that Manipur is renowned for. Chief Minister N Biren Singh also emphasized the importance of unity among the diverse communities represented in the Manipur Police, highlighting that during critical situations, unity and a sense of belonging are vital for effective governance. Manipur, with its 35 recognized tribes, stands as an example of unity amidst diversity.
