Women’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup 2023: India A Beat Hong Kong by 9 Wickets

Sports Desk, 13 June: India A beat Hong Kong by 9 wickets in Women’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup 2023 on Tuesday at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. With this outstanding victory, India A has earned the first two points in Group A which features two additional teams including Pakistan A and Nepal.

At the Mission Road Ground this afternoon against the host Hong Kong team, India A captain Shweta Sehrawat won the toss and elected to field first. Her choice was wise because the Indian bowlers began to take wickets often after the power play.

After 14 overs, they bowled out Hong Kong for a pitiful score of 34 with four bowlers splitting the wickets equally. The selection for India was Shreyanka Patil, a future star. In her three overs, she took five wickets for two runs. For the A side, Mannat Kashyap and Parshavi Chopra both took a few wickets and Titas Sadhu also claimed one victim with the ball.

India A’s skipper Shweata Sehrawat was out during the run chase in the second over of the innings. But thereafter, Gongadi Trisha and Uma Chetry joined forces to easily defeat the 34 run target and give their team a victory in their tournament debut in Hong Kong.

This is the inaugural Women’s T20 Emerging Asia Cup which has eight teams split into two groups. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are among the sides that have been granted ODI status and have sent their A squads to the event to fight against Associate nations like Malaysia, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates and Nepal.
