World’s Largest Floating Solar Plant To Be Built On Omkareshwar Dam in Madhya Pradesh
Guwahati: A floating solar power plant will be built at Khandwa by 2023 with the intention of boosting Madhya Pradesh’s capability for power production.
This floating solar plant will be the biggest in the world with a 600-Megawatt capacity. Over Rs. 3000 crores are the anticipated price tag for the project.
Speaking to ANI, Renewable Energy Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Dubey said, “Omkareshwar Dam is built on the Narmada River. This is our hydroelectric project, where we use water to generate energy. It is stretched out over an area of about 100 square kilometres, and there is a sizable body of water there where the water level is constant.”
Dubey added that Khandwa will be the only district in Madhya Pradesh to have thermal power plants, hydel power, and solar power with the addition of the new floating solar facility.
