World’s Longest River Cruise Reaches Ramnagar Port in Varanasi

Guwahati: The world’s longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas arrived at Ramnagar Port in Varanasi on Tuesday after departing from Kolkata on December 22.

According to reports, the cruise which was scheduled to reach Varanasi on Saturday arrived late due to bad weather.

The boat will depart from the Ramnagar port and arrive at Sant Ravidas Ghat to a magnificent welcome.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually flag off the MV Ganga Vilas Cruise Yatra on January 13.

The opulent triple-deck cruise will travel from Varanasi to Dibrugarh in Assam along the world’s longest river. The cruise will have a capacity of 80 passengers with 18 suits

This cruise will travel on an exciting 51-day tour that will include 15 days in Bangladesh. It will next travel via Assam’s Brahmaputra River to reach Dibrugarh.

The opulent cruise will travel through 5 states in India and Bangladesh over a distance of more than 3,200 miles.

A total of 27 river systems in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Assam will be traversed during this trip. The Ganga, Meghna and Brahmaputra are the three principal rivers that the cruise will cross.

The cruise will enter the Bhagirathi, Hooghly, Bidyavati, Malata, and Sundarbans river systems in Bengal.

The 51-day voyage is scheduled to stop at 50 tourist destinations, including World Heritage sites, National Parks, river Ghats and important cities like Patna in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Guwahati in Assam.
