Young Shooting Prodigy from Arunachal Bags Gold at State Championship

Itanagar: In a stellar display of talent and determination, ten-year-old Marpi Karlo from Balijan’s VKV School has clinched the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle (Women) category at the 6th State Shooting Championship 2025.

The event, organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Rifle Association (APRA) at the Rajiv Gandhi University Shooting Range in Doimukh, saw the Class 6 student outperform her senior competitors with remarkable precision and calm.

Hailing from Gogar village in the Lower Siang district, Marpi’s journey to the top is a testament to her dedication and the unwavering support of her family. The daughter of Jummar and Yomnya Doke Karlo, she was meticulously trained by her aunt, Jumngam Karlo, who was instrumental in refining her technique and skills. This victory is a significant leap for the young shooter, who last year secured a bronze at the 5th State Shooting Championship 2024. Her rapid progress in just a year highlights her immense potential in the sport.

With this momentous win, Marpi has also secured her spot in the upcoming zonal-level competition, a major milestone in her budding career.
