Guwahati: A youth who was travelling in a ferry coming from Nimatighat towards Majuli in Assam jumped into river Brahmaputra on Wednesday.
The incident took place at around 10:30pm, a few minutes after the ferry left Nimatighat for Majuli’s Aphalamukh.
According to reports, the youth on the Senimai 2 ferry dived into the river as soon as the vessel started moving.
The identity of the missing adolescent has yet to be discovered.
A rescue operation has been initiated after police and local administration arrived on the scene.
However, until the filing of this report, no sign of the adolescent could be found.
