Guwahati, 23rd July: Dug-up pits in Guwahati city have become a hazard for commoners, with the concerned department reportedly neglecting the issue despite repeated warnings. In another heart-wrenching incident, a youth identified as Sourav Kumar Das (28) lost his life after falling into a dug-up pit near Gate Hospital in Guwahati’s Mathgharia locality.
According to initial reports, the unfortunate incident occurred on July 14, when Sourav Kumar Das was on his way to pick up a birthday gift. He accidentally fell into the excavated pit and sustained severe injuries. Rushed to GNRC Hospital for medical treatment, the youth tragically succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night.
The concerned department later filled up the dug-up pit with soil.
Sources disclosed that the deceased had recently obtained his engineering degree from Jorhat Engineering College.
