Ziro Police Arrest Drug Peddler in Midnight Raid as Part of Arunachal’s Operation Dawn
Ziro – In a significant breakthrough in the state’s ongoing Operation Dawn, Ziro police arrested a habitual offender for alleged drug peddling in a midnight raid between October 17 and 18, following a tip-off about the suspect’s arrival from North Lakhimpur, Assam.
The arrest was led by SDPO O. Lego, under the supervision of SP Keni Bagra, and involved a thorough search of the suspect’s residence. The operation resulted in the seizure of 33 plastic vials containing suspected heroin, weighing 48.3 grams, along with three mobile handsets and two used syringes.
The suspect, identified as Hano Doley, has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with further investigation underway to uncover possible networks involved in the drug trade.
Operation Dawn, launched by the Arunachal Pradesh police, is a comprehensive campaign aimed at tackling the state’s growing drug problem. While enforcement plays a crucial role, the operation also prioritizes youth awareness campaigns and collaboration with agencies to implement harm reduction strategies, seeking long-term solutions to the drug menace.
