ZPM Dominates Mizoram Election 2023: Secures Key Constituencies, Party’s Working President Triumphs in Aizawl North III

Northeast Desk, 4th December: The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) is on the brink of toppling the MNF, aiming for a historic triumph. With a lead in pivotal constituencies, ZPM attains a majority, securing the Tawi Assembly seat as Lalnilawma emerges victorious.

Enthusiasts of the ZPM party are already immersed in an early Christmas celebration. Competing in all 40 assembly seats in Mizoram alongside the MNF and Congress, ZPM has paved the way for a notable political shift. In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contested in only 23 seats. The assembly polls, conducted on November 7, witnessed a robust 80.43% voter turnout.

Initially scheduled for December 3, the counting day has been rescheduled to December 4 by the Election Commission. This decision is in response to numerous requests from within Mizoram, advocating for a weekday count. Chief Electoral Officer Madhup Vyas has confirmed the acceptance of the request, citing the significance of Sundays for church duties and prayers.
