ZPM Government Hailed for Transformative First Year in Mizoram

Aizawl: Mizoram’s Home Minister, K. Sapdanga, yesterday lauded the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government’s remarkable achievements in its inaugural year, attributing the strides to a disciplined and targeted approach. Speaking at a ZPM Party Office event in Aizawl, Sapdanga firmly stated that all significant progress witnessed across flagship programmes in the past year was solely due to the ZPM administration’s performance-oriented governance.

He elaborated on the unique preparatory phase undertaken by the new government, revealing that Chief Minister Lalduhoma had instructed ministers to engage in 100 days of dedicated groundwork before formally assuming their portfolios. This meticulous planning, Sapdanga underscored, allowed the government to meet its objectives within the stipulated timeframe. Highlighting agricultural successes, the minister disclosed that funds had already been earmarked to assist 10,000 farmers through various schemes. In its very first year, the government procured approximately 2,000 lakh quintals of turmeric from 672 locations, positively impacting over 20,000 farming families.

Sapdanga also mentioned the introduction of the Hand Holding Scheme, designed to bolster young entrepreneurs. He commended Chief Minister Lalduhoma for his proactive involvement, noting the Chief Minister’s personal quarterly reviews of ministerial performances, a move that, according to Sapdanga, underscores the government’s unwavering dedication to responsive and transparent governance. In the realm of healthcare, the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme is being effectively implemented, with a particular focus on providing crucial medical support to financially vulnerable families. A Review Committee has been established to foster better coordination between government workers and private hospitals, aiming to enhance both transparency and the quality of service delivery. Furthermore, the government is actively considering expanding the existing old age pension scheme to offer greater support to the elderly, widows, and those lacking familial backing.
