ZPM Leader Lalduhoma meets Mizoram Governor to stake claim to form government; Swearing-in Ceremony on Dec 8

Northeast Desk, 6th December: Following a decisive triumph in the Mizoram Assembly polls, Lalduhoma, leader of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and the Chief Ministerial candidate, met with Governor Hari Babau Kambhampati to formally stake a claim for government formation.

The meeting took place at Raj Bhawan in Aizawl at around 10:30 am, with Lalduhoma joined by party president K Sapdanga and newly elected MLA Vanlalhlana.

Meanwhile, ZPM’s Lalduhoma to take oath as Mizoram CM on December 8 at Raj Bhawan.

ZPM secured an overwhelming victory, winning 27 out of 40 assembly constituencies, as declared on December 4.

Expressing gratitude for the substantial support, Lalduhoma, poised to succeed Zoramthanga as the Chief Minister, conveyed the sentiment of Mizoram’s youth, expressing dissatisfaction with the incumbent Mizo National Front (MNF) and a desire for a new administration with fresh ideas. Lalduhoma highlighted the people’s anticipation of ZPM’s return to power, emphasizing that the selection of the CM had been announced to the public the previous year.

Anticipating the swearing-in ceremony, Lalduhoma disclosed plans for a press meeting where he would outline the government’s top priorities. Additionally, ZPM conducted a special worship service to commemorate their victory. Baryl Vanneihsangi, ZPM’s newly elected MLA, credited the win to all women in the community during the worship service, dedicating the success to them.
