ZPM’s Lalduhoma Emerges Victorious in Mizoram’s Serchhip Constituency
Northeast Desk, 4th December: Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) leader Lalduhoma secures victory in the Serchhip constituency, earning a seat in the upcoming Mizoram Assembly. Meanwhile, his rival MNF leader and current CM Zorathanga face defeat in the Aizawl East 1 seat.
Lalduhoma, the incumbent MLA of Serchhip, triumphs over his main opponent, MNF candidate J Malsawmzualvanchhawng.
In anticipation of forming the government, Lalduhoma announces his intention to meet Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati in the coming days.
With a commanding lead in 27 seats, ZPM is poised to take the reins of Mizoram’s government, while the rival MNF lags behind with only ten seats. The election witnessed enthusiastic participation, as over 80 per cent of the state’s 8.57 lakh voters exercised their franchise. A total of 174 candidates, including 18 women, contested in the 40-member state assembly. To establish governance in Mizoram, a party must secure a majority by crossing the halfway mark of 21 seats.
